St. John’s Girls’ Inter College A Prestigious Inter College of C.N.I. Agra Diocese
Many revolutionary works were being done by European missionaries for the upliftment of the common man in India and establishment of St. John’s Girl’s School was one of them. The school was opened by a senior C.M.S. Missionary Miss Sophia on 23rd Oct. 1912 at Chili-int Ghatia with the prayer of three senior priests in a small house with only 5 girls.
At that time the main aim of Miss Sophia was to make the people of India, aware about the necessity of girl education since the girls were not allowed to move out of their houses, the school was also known as ‘Parda School’. After 3 years i.e: in 1916 the school was shifted to M.G.. Road with 20 girls. In 1938 for the first time 13 girls appeared for the Anglo Warnacular Middle School Exam. All of them qualified with three girls getting special, distinction and one girl secured first place among 1300 girls.
On 31st Oct. 1988 the school’s art section get affiliation upto class Xth. For the first time in 1990, 74 girls appeared for class 10th exams. In 1996 college’s art section at plus two level given affiliation and class XIth started with 110 girls.
Today the college has the three streams namely, science, arts and commerce. We have also got permission to start commerce section form 1st July 2007, so our class X students will not have to go to other colleges to pursue commerce at +2 level. At present we have well equipped science labs and well updated library with about 1500 books on different subject,
The most remarkable feature, was the establishment of the computer section on 21st Sept. 1996 with the huge computer lab and about 20 computers. God willing, soon we shall get permission for N.C.C. also. The college has a big play ground, known as mini stadium. Our students have been taking part in sports and other co-curricular activities winning prizes for different competitions. We also organise seminars, moral value discussion and other competitions in the college hall for the overall development of the girls.
